Take It Easy Sunday
This weekend was a special one. My sister came to town for a very brief visit on the way to the casino because it was her birthday on Friday and also because she had a high school reunion last night. We met at the shrine at church and exchanged gifts. Oh yes, my sister gave me a gift on her birthday. Isn’t that nice? She gave me an embroidered peasant blouse simply because she saw them when she was shopping, and bought two for herself and one for me. I love it, of course.
I gave her some nice creams and bath soap, and because she requested it, some things from here at the house. A picture to hang on the wall, some books, a little vase shaped like a sea shell, a book with shell photos in it and a card telling her how much I appreciate her.
We visited a few minutes, hugged several times and then she was off like the wind, which incidentally was blowing a mile a minute as it has been for weeks.
She called me last evening and asked about the Mass time here because they were heading this way toward the reunion and so they met me at church and we attended Mass together. What a treat to sit next to her in church and know that we have each other no matter what.
But I am leaving out something very important too. Dick, her husband, finished his instructions and was welcomed into the Catholic church on Easter. So he was there too, enjoying his new found place and so happy about it.
After Mass, I made a swing by Luby’s to pick up supper, something I haven’t done in ages. So no cooking yesterday at all. And today, I woke up by myself a little after 7, enjoyed a good breakfast and have a meat loaf and speckled butter beans on the stove.
I shaved Gordon so he looks better and now I have a few minutes before I steam some carrots. I will try to make some oatmeal cookies a little later. Gordon has run out of cookies, but I did get him a big piece of cake from Luby’s so he is not quite out of sweets.
It’s a partly sunny day, still very windy but it’s 75 degrees and everything looks so green and glorious outside.
Everything would be perfect if Gordon felt better, but that’s not to be yet. It will come. I have to have faith that he will be relieved of at least a little of his pain.
I hope that you, my dear readers, are having a good weekend too, doing whatever it is that makes you the happiest. I have been praying for those of you who are having your problems, whether it be health or otherwise. I dreamed last night I won the lotto and if I ever do, I want to throw a big party and send every one of you a plane ticket to come and we will meet, eat and enjoy each other. Of course, I have to buy the tickets to win and I hardly ever do. LOL

Seeing a post from you is always a joy... like winning a lottery myself! I'm so glad you had a good day yesterday! You and Mr. Gordon are always in my prayers.
Oh I do hope you win the lottery--I would love to come meet you-and if I ever win the lottery--I'm coming anyway and bringing all our xanga friends--although most of them have left for facebook
Hope you and Gordon have a wonderful day
Can we go somewhere fancier then Luby's (kidding) hope you win.
Sweet sister- did you wear the peasant tops when you were young?
that is nice that he became a catholic, too. I'm not so sure I would join if I wasn't already one.
Yes, everything is so green but I don't like these black crackles mating-I thought they were fighting until Frank from NVRa sad day told me what they were really doing.lol looks like fighting to me and they are so loud about it.
Gordon doesn't stay in bed all the time does he? he gets up in his chair right?
I'm glad you got to see your sister, and then sit in church with her and her husband too. And you had a day off from cooking, that's always nice.
Glad you had a chance to see your sister. We all hope that soon Gordon has less pain. It's difficult for both of you I'm sure.
We would all be lucky to meet you some day sweet pea. :)
I have dreams of that too, of being able to meet those close to me here on xanga.
I'm so thankful for the time you got to spend with your sister and her husband.
You can't buy things like that, I'm glad it made you smile.
I have been praying for both you and Gordon, wishing you both well.

I am happy to have had the opportunity to spend some time with you for my birthday and also to attend the Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe with you. I see all your Xanga friends are also happy for us. That is nice. It looks as though you are all one big happy family and I am glad to be a part of that family.
That is awesome you got to spend time with your sister. I always play the lottery too but never win more than a free ticket. Wouldn't it be nice to win and share with all you know. Make everyone's life a little easier. Oh well.
Sounds like you are off to a good week. Enjoy! My wish for you this week is you and Gordon have a wonderful week, the best you guys have had in a long time. Enjoy each other! Even tho things are not like they used to be I wish you find peace and joy in the simplest of things.
Expect a picture of you with your peasant top. That is one thing I used to wear and I still have the shoulders for it but nothing else.
RE: Your comment. We are lucky that the South Carolina fires are a good bit north of where we are. Pretty sad though because they are say it started because some fellow was careless with burning his trash.
Looks like your "take it easy sunday" turned into "take it easy week."
